Accidents
We understand the inconvenience that accompanies motor accidents. It is situation that no party wants to get into. Let Perfect Power support you during this stressful period, so you can focus on your studies, work or business.
What To Do When An Accident Happens
Keep Calm
Firstly, stay calm and check if anyone is injured. Do not attempt to move the injured driver or passengers, unless someone is injured. If this is the case, call 995 for ambulance assistance or 999 for police assistance. Do not discuss liability at this point in time.
Document The Scene
Make a record of the scene. Record as much information as possible – take multiple photos from different angles with your phone’s camera and take down comprehensive notes with a notepad or your phone’s app. These will go a long way in making your motor accident claims. Very importantly, note the licence plate number, driver’s name and contact number of the other party in the accident. If it is possible, take a photograph of the other party’s driving licence and NRIC.
If your vehicle has been damaged and you are not able to drive away, Perfect Power can arrange for towing service. Please call our hotline at Tel: 6767 0011.
File A Police Report
If any of the situations has occurred, file a police report at the nearest police station:
- The accident involves damage to a pedestrian, cyclist or PMD, a government vehicle, a government property or a foreign vehicle
- The accident involves an injury case
- The accident involves a hit-and-run case
Report your accident and bring your accident vehicle (regardless of the extent of damage) to our authorised workshops within 24 hours or by the next working day.
Important Note: Even if the above scenarios did not happen but you wish to claim insurance, you should also file a police report.
Claiming Insurance For The Accident
File A Police Report
As noted in the previous section, you will need to file a police report if you intend to claim insurance for the road accident. You will need to do this within 24 hours of the accident or by the next working day. You will need to bring your car to our workshop for assessment within this period.
Claiming Under Your Own Policy
If you intend to claim your own policy, Perfect Power will submit a quotation for your vehicle’s repairs to your insurer. The claim needs to be submitted within 14 days of the accident.
Claiming Under The Other Party’s Policy
If you intend to claim the policy of the other party, an estimate of the repairs will be prepared and the other party’s insurer will be invited to survey your vehicle. This will happen within two working days of the accident.
Important Note: If the accident involves a foreign vehicle, it is advisable to claim under your own insurance policy. This is due to the uncertain processes and timeline when dealing with foreign parties.
Each of the claims has its own processes, which can look daunting when a driver is in the midst of it, while trying to juggle his or her work and family at the same time. Contact Perfect Power at Tel: 6767 0011 and we will guide you through the process.
